Flight Review

A summary of when a flight review is necessary is as follows:

  • A flight review is required every 24 calendar months
  • A flight review is required unless:
    • A flight review was completed in the previous 24 months
    • A checkride (including for an instructor certificate) was successfully completed in the last 24 months
    • An FAA-sponsored pilot proficiency award program was completed in the previous 24 calendar months (e.g., WINGS)
  • A flight review must consist of:
    • A review of the current general operating and flight rules of CFR 14 Part 91.
    • A review of those maneuvers and procedures that are deemed appropriate.
